We have an in invite to do the OB parade next year. It's at night so start thinking about lights on your scooter!

The 260 LED's on my wire scoot drew only 14 watts. Would like to get a 2nd big SD Scooter Squadron patch and but them on the Prius doors with magnets.

Perry, idling inverter draws VERY little DC and you'd connect it (or install fuse) only when leaving for parade; switch on AC optional for convenience since you'd stash inverter under seat. BTW, 80 and 400 have cig-ltr plugs but bad to run thru scooter system unless you installed and fused receptacle direct to battery. (A 200-W unit has alligator clips, but risky in scooter's tight confines.) Best to cut off either and wire direct, with fuse... Waid, we visualized a large SDSS banner (3' x 4'?) on the Prius' hood and another on each side. If not cloth banners, then large printouts from a plotter?

I researched the actual route. The parade proper starts at University and Utah and goes one block east, then north on Kansas for a block, right (east) on Lincoln for a block, south on 30th and left again on University. After a few blocks eastward it turns right (south) on Herman for a block, then back westward on North Park Way for four blocks (with a left/right jog at Ray St.) Left on 30th, south one block to Gunn and right (west) on Gunn for three blocks to the endpoint at Gunn and Utah. The total length is 1.2 miles, and it's absolutely flat so it should be eminently 50cc-friendly!

Any info on costumes (other than no Santa suits) or scooter decorations?

      Just Kid friendly!

Thongs, Geoff? When have I EVER been associated with thongs, other than on ladies I knew? (Or the leather kind, for lacing boots and powder horns?)

Thanks for the link. When I was really little my family would come to this, then my Dad switched to Mother Goose Parade. Now I know why.

Helmets are normally required since we are on city streets. Sometimes it changes, but plan on wearing one on the route.

    November 27, 2012

  • Dave E

That's the route I described in a post on 10/28. (Got it from their Website.)

They say "arrive at 8:30 for parking" but we won't be parking anything at that parking structure (or anywhere else.) Must we still arrive at 8:30?

    November 23, 2012

    • Perry

I think we will be fine arriving later. We normally use the parking area to decorate the scooters. As long as we get a couple of spaces down low we should be fine. Many come early grab a coffee and tour the entries.
