I want to thank everyone who came out for our Holiday Lights Ride Last night. It was one of the most successful Sqooterheads rides ever. When our 19 scooters were lined up in front of the amazingly lit homes on Garrison Street in Point Loma -- that was a site to behold! A special shout-out to my co-leaders on the ride, Jeff and Lt. Darin, who were excellent sweeps; Pharaoh Juan, who as middle-man successfully reconnected our group after it got split up a couple times; and George, who joined me up front . Also thanks to Lisa for recommending the idea of this ride, and to Cameron for being the first to recommend Garrison Street as a stop -- definitely a highlight of the ride.

Holiday lights rained down upon us, our scooters got lots of attention, no one got hurt, some stomachs got hungry, and a few of us survived all the way to the bitter end, our reward being hot toddies, Irish coffees, and singing along to live piano bar tunes at Inn at the Park. Happy holidays everyone!

Steve, it was really an awesome ride. A fun route, well-attended, and perfectly themed for the season. Thanks to everyone who came and enjoyed. See you all at the next Sqooterheads or Squadron Meetup

Second only to our historic ride in the Pride Parade last summer, tonight was the most successful Sqooterheads ride yet! 19 scooter and some 25 people, taking in the wondrous holiday light displays in various San Diego neighborhoods and enjoying live holiday music at a classic San Diego piano bar, Inn at the Park.

Tonight's the night! I scouted out the route last night in Ugly Betty (my Toyota Prius), and let me tell you -- we are in for some sparkling lights and wondrous sites. Please remember to have a full tank of gas and to dress warm -- it could dip into the low 60's tonight, with riding making it seem colder. See you tonight at Claire de Lune at 6!

I look forward to seeing everyone on our Holiday Lights Ride tomorrow! As some of you know, December 9 is another fabulous holiday event involving the Sqooterheads: The 4th Annual WE CARE Holiday Mixer, benefiting The Center Youth Programs, Memorial Preparatory Academy in Barrio Logan, and the Imperial Court de San Diego Toys for Kids Drive.

Sponsored by San Diego's major GLBTQ sports leagues ... and the Sqooterheads! ... the event brings together a LOT of hot athletes. There's no cover charge. It raises money for these worthy causes through raffle ticket sales. Tickets sell for $5 each and put you in the running for several very cool prices to be given away that night, each valued at $50 or more -- including an iPad Mini! I have a limited number of raffle tickets to sell on tomorrow's ride. (You don't have to be present at the December 9 Mixer to win). If you want first dibs, message me. For more info. on this great event: https://www.facebook.com/events/127576254062129

The neighborhood of Burlingame, which is at the junction of North and South Park, one of the longest standing lighting displays, nothing too different but a lot of participation within the neighborhood.

Yes, the lights will be up on 12/5, most are up already.

If you have a suggestion for a neighborhood/area in central San Diego where really good holiday lights are on display -- and you can confirm the lights will be up and on during our December 5 night ride -- please either message me your suggestion via Meetup or leave it in a comment here. I need your suggestions TODAY (12/3/12). Tomorrow I plan to issue a ride map incorporating the best suggestions. Thanks! Steve

Hello Sqooterheads and all participants on this fun upcoming holiday ride sponsored by the Sqooterheads!

As some of you know, the Sqooterheads are honored to be joining San Diego's major GLBTQ sports leagues as a sponsor of the 4th Annual WE CARE Holiday Mixer taking place December 9 to raise funds for three worthy causes -- Center Youth Programs, the Memorial Preparatory Academy in Barrio Logan, and the Imperial Court de San Diego Toys for Kids Drive.

As a sponsor, we get to promote scootering and the Sqooterheads to the more than 100 attendees expected at the Mixer. We'll also provide one raffle prize, valued at $50, with all proceeds going to the designated charities.

On this December 5 Holiday Lights ride, I'll be collecting donations from riders ($1, $5, $10 -- whatever you want to contribute) to go toward the raffle prize.

If you haven't RSVP'd for the WE CARE Holiday Mixer on December 9 yet, you can do so here: http://www.meetup.com/sd-scooters/events/91492652/

Wanted to share this response I got from Andy Anderson and Nathan Fry themselves! I asked them on their FB page if they would be performing December 5 on the night of our next ride ... ME: Will you guys be performing on December 5? That's the monthly night ride for the GLBTQ scooter gang I lead, the San Diego Sqooterheads, and we'd like to end our night ride with drinks and music by you guys.

Andy Anderson and Nathan Fry: Hi Steve....YES. Wednesday December 5th. We'll be there. THAT would be fun to party with a bunch of scooter heads.... Hope to see you.....
