(We had a great time at DASH 3 -- Get your team together for DASH5!  The following text will be updated in the months ahead of the event.)

No, I'm not really hosting it. In fact, it's not even hosted by San Diego Boardgames Group.

We are posting it for your information and to help you find others for your team.

An RSVP here on Meetup DOES NOT secure your entry -- you MUST register on the DASH website.

  1. RSVP here with a comment saying you need teammates, then contact other RSVP'ers to see if they want to form a team with you.
  2. Talk to others inside and outside of the group to let them know about it and find teammates.
  3. Gather your team, then register at the website below.
  4. Come back here and change your RSVP comments to say that you are registered and who you are teamed up with.

Looking for a fix for your clue-solving habit?

Come check out DASH, a nationwide puzzle hunt event coming up on Saturday, April 30. DASH stands for Different Area, Same Hunt, which means that the clue puzzles used in the game will be the same in the hunts going on in a dozen cities nationwide all on the same day. San Diego Rocket Race is hosting the San Diego DASH and we're looking forward to putting your puzzle-solving skills to the test.

What is DASH?
From fictitious graveyards to s'mores designed in morse code to music clips containing a hidden message, anything is possible to encounter when playing in the DASH puzzle hunt. A puzzle hunt, a unique type of treasure hunt, is a fun, interactive, outdoor event in which teams of players race to find and solve creative puzzles hidden in different locations. San Diego is just one of 12 cities across the US where teams will be solving a series of puzzle-based clues all on the same day.

The event can be done competitively, with teams being scored on their solve times for each puzzle (and not counting travel times between puzzle locations). Teams of four will put their puzzle-solving abilities to the test as they face a series of mind-bending puzzles created by each city's game control team. (Yes, that means only one of the clues came from the Rocket Race guys!) Traveling will be on foot, and since travel time isn't part of the competition, there's no need to run.

Event Information:

  • Date: Saturday, April 30, 2010
  • Time: Competition starts at 10:00 am.
  • Starting Line: Balboa Park - exact location to be emailed to all registered teams on April 29.
  • Fee: $40 for a team of 2 to 6. Optimal size is 4.
