Anti-Monsanto Demonstration

The San Diego convention center is hosting a science convention, and Monsanto is going to be there giving a speech, and trying to get more customers. We want to let them know that we San Diegans do not approve of what Monsanto does, and educate others about the atrocities they have committed, and will continue to commit if they are not stopped. We will peacefully protest with signs and banners, as well as hand out some fliers with information. We are going to meet at 11AM in front of the convention center (basically 5th ave & Harbor drive--directly in front of the san diego convention center sign.) The demo will be from 11 AM to 2PM, since Monsanto's speech is going to be from 12:30 to 1:15.

It would also be great for anyone planning to attend to make signs/banners/etc. If you can't, that's fine. Being there is the most important thing.

Last, but not least, please tell everyone you know about this Sunday's demonstration! There is strength in numbers. If each of us spreads the word and recruits others to come, and they do the same, then we could really stir things up! Let's do this!

I think there was approximately 100 people that came between 11 and 2. Some people were only able to come for a short time (1-2 hours) and we were spread out from exhibit hall B and E.

I truly am happy I attended. It was good to see new faces. Hope next time we have more time to organize. It was fine for the short warning. Thanks for organizing this event. It was a blast and I want to do it again.

The turnout was disappointing with about 30 there, maybe a little more, but definitely worthwhile. I plan on attending more demonstrations and meetups for safe food. Timing and weather were definitely factors on turnout.

For those who want to take the MTS Trolley (I plan to park and ride it to avoid traffic), there is a trolley stop at the spot we're meeting in front of the convetion center: get off at the Gaslamp Trolley Station via the Orange Line.

I just got an email from NJ that she's sent me 150 health risk of GMO's flyers and a few books that I'll bring. Also found out Sean of Undergroud Wellness ordered 1500 of them! If he is coming he could be bringing quite a crowd which would be wonderful.
