October Meeting: Optimizing Your AWS Costs With CloudCheckr

The Topic

Public cloud costs often spiral upwards for users who do not employ careful controls. In this presentation, CloudCheckr founders Aaron Newman and Aaron Klein (see below) look at instance purchasing types, utilization levels, and factors that should be considered to effectively optimize your AWS spend.

They'll cover:

• Overview of costs in AWS
• Choosing on-demand vs. reserved instances vs. spot
• Optimizing resources
• And more!

CloudCheckr is an AWS partner; for their APN directory listing, see: http://ow.ly/ohYmG

We are co-hosting this event with the San Diego Amazon Web Services, Cloud Computing San Diego, and San Diego Cloud Security Alliance meetup groups.

Aaron Newman, CEO of CloudCheckr, is one of the world’s foremost database security experts and brings a breadth of experience to CloudCheckr, Inc. He is a serial entrepreneur having previously founded three other successful startups: Techrigy, DbSecure, and Application Security, Inc.

Aaron Klein, COO of CloudCheckr, brings a deep knowledge of cloud architecture and over 20 years of managerial experience and vision to his role at CloudCheckr Inc. He has held leading roles in diverse organizations ranging from small entrepreneurial start-ups to multi-billion dollar enterprises.

We will be serving pizza, antipasto, drinks, and some sort of dessert.
