One of the topics DevOps is primarily concerned with is the automated setup/configuration of systems and the deployment of subsequent patches/updates/etc. Typically this workflow stops with servers - DevOps is a portmanteau of Development and Operations, so it makes sense that this would be the main focus. But why can this not be applied to client machines as well? At OneHealth, we do our best to automate all of our systems with the end goal of consistency and repeatability.
The topic for this meeting is Munki - a set of tools that can be used to manage software installs (and removals) on OS X client machines. Please familiarize yourselves with the basic ideas of Munki. We will be talking about how we use Munki and other open source tools at OneHealth to ensure that all our Macs are set up and maintained properly.
As we talk about Munki, we will discuss a few other tools that have a place in our workflow: AutoDMG, Jenkins, AutoPkg, and a few others.
