For this meeting Mitek Systems presents A Deep Dive into Developing MiSnap: an Image Capture and Image Processing SDK for the iOS Platform.
Mitek has long been known for its expertise in server-side image processing, and has the patents to prove it. Unfortunately, they found that allowing users to take their own pictures and send them to the server for processing would often result in unusable images. The need to go beyond just using UIImagePickerController became apparent. MiSnap is Mitek's effort to produce a camera replacement library that performs image capture in a new way, allowing pictures to be taken when conditions are optimal, processing video frames along the way to determine optimal conditions, and coaching the user with helpful UX feedback.
Mitek Chief Technology Officer Mike Strange will open the presentation. He is an experienced mobile technology leader. Prior to joining Mitek, Mike was CTO of Green Dot, where he led the strategy architecture and implementation of their reusable mobile platform to serve the underbanked. Mike also served as a director at Neudesic, where he led practices and projects. Mike has a degree in Computer Science from MIT.
Mitek Manager of Mobile Innovation Kirk Beitz will finish the presentation. Kirk is the head of the Mobile Development team producing iOS and Android SDKs and apps. Mitek Senior Director of Development Jim Magner will also be in attendance supporting the presentation. Jim oversees Mobile Innovation and Server-Side software development teams for Mitek Systems.
