Startup Weekend San Diego 7

If there's any one event that will both challenge and reward you, it's Startup Weekend. I've attended a handful of these events in the past and even had the fortune to be on teams that came in 1st and 2nd place. What a rush!

It's rewarding on many levels whether it's leading your own team, or collaborating with like minded people and being part of the creative process in designing and building a new app from the ground up.

Startup Weekend isn't for everybody, but it's definitely one of the more enjoyable events I've attended.

I challenge you to check it out and judge for yourself.

Now, what exactly is Startup Weekend?

Startup Weekends are weekend-long, hands-on experiences where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can find out if startup ideas are viable. On average, half of Startup Weekend’s attendees have technical or design backgrounds, the other half have business backgrounds.

Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas, practicing LEAN Startup Methodologies and building a minimal viable product. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts.

Terry, ideas are pitched on Friday, then teams are made afterwards. There's always a need for talent on any given team but you'll need to reach out to them to find where you can fit in. Go if you can make it. Also you can talk to one of the organizers and they can help find you a team.
