Introduction to Photography

This beginners workshop introduces the fundamentals of photography during a walking tour of the beautiful Balboa Park. If you just bought a camera or are new to photography and want to learn how to take beautiful photos, this workshop is for you. This workshop will introduce you to the basics of exposure and composition techniques that will open the door to endless photographic possibilities. This is a hands on learning experience and a wonderful opportunity to capture beautiful photos of one of San Diego's most scenic areas under the instruction of experienced professional photographers.

This workshop will cover:

  • How cameras work
  • Camera controls and functions
  • Lenses
  • Filters & Accessories
  • The importance of light
  • Using shutter speed to control motion
  • Using aperture to control depth of field
  • Metering modes
  • White balance
  • Basic composition techniques

This workshop takes place outdoors and involves a little walking, so we recommend that you dress comfortably.

Don't forget to bring your camera, charged batteries, and memory cards.

We recommend that you have a DSLR camera or an advanced point and shoot camera with shutter priority and aperture priority modes. We do not rent equipment.

Hi. I have a deal voucher that expires May 24th. Your May 19th class is already full. I went ahead and RSVP'd for the June 1st class. Will you still honor the voucher? Thank you.

I am sorry to have to cancel but I have some unexpected family matters come up. With the classes you are offering after June 1st I won't be able to attend until the class on June 29th. I hope this will be ok. I also wanted to let you know that when I did try to print out the handout for this class I was given an error saying I didn't have permission to the file. Thank you.

Feel free to RSVP for any intro class that you can attend. We will look into the handout error. Thank you.

    Members,

If you joined the waiting list for this class, you will be automatically added to the attendance list only if an attending member changes their RSVP to "not going." If you do not get to attend this class, please feel free to sign up for a future date. If you are an attending member and you cannot make it to this class, please change your RSVP to "not going" so that a waiting member can take your spot.

For those first couple members on the waiting list, we usually have a couple of spots open up at the last minute, so there is a decent chance you will be moved to the attendance list tomorrow.
