Introduction to Photography

This beginners workshop introduces the fundamentals of photography during a walking tour of the beautiful Balboa Park. If you just bought a camera or are new to photography and want to learn how to take beautiful photos, this workshop is for you. This workshop will introduce you to the basics of exposure and composition techniques that will open the door to endless photographic possibilities. This is a hands on learning experience and a wonderful opportunity to capture beautiful photos of one of San Diego's most scenic areas under the instruction of experienced professional photographers.

This workshop will cover:

How cameras work
Camera controls and functions
Lenses
Filters & Accessories
The importance of light
Using shutter speed to control motion
Using aperture to control depth of field
Metering modes
White balance
Basic composition techniques

This workshop takes place outdoors and involves a little walking, so we recommend that you dress comfortably.

Don't forget to bring your camera, charged batteries, and memory cards.

We recommend that you have a DSLR camera or an advanced point and shoot camera with shutter priority and aperture priority modes. We do not rent equipment.

If you did not purchase a deal voucher, the price for this class is $98 and payments must be made in cash when you arrive at the workshop.

Please RSVP for this workshop if you plan on attending. This workshop requires a minimum of 7 people to commence. If 7 people do not sign up for this workshop by the 10:00 am of the date of the workshop, the workshop will be canceled.

Extremely informative, slow paced and explained in layman terms so much so that even the beginner like myself was able to stay engaged. High scores as well for practical application after each instruction which help solidify each topic.

A few notes for this class:

We will be meeting at the Tea Pavilion at the Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park. The address is 2215 Pan American Plaza, San Diego, California 92101.

* Please bring and present your printed or smartphone deal vouchers to one of the instructors. If you did not purchase a deal voucher, please bring $98 cash. *

Please bring your camera along with any lenses you may have. Make sure you have a memory card and charged batteries.

We recommend that you arrive at the park at least 15 minutes early to find parking. The park is busy on the weekends.

During the workshop we will be walking around Balboa Park, so we suggest that you wear comfortable clothing and shoes.

*** The workshop will start promptly at 1:00 pm, after which we will leave the meeting area, so if you arrive late please call [masked] so we can tell you where to find the group. ***

  That camera should work fine-it has all of the functions that we cover, and although it has slightly different settings they will definitely still produce the cool effects and settings that we use
