Manual Exposure

This intro to DSLR's and manual exposure workshop is aimed to get you off the automatic mode and teach you how to control your photography. This workshop teaches the fundamentals of exposure, which is the backbone of photography. If you do not have a good grasp on manual exposure, we recommend taking this workshop before any other workshop. Our other workshops expect you to already know this basic knowledge of photography and cameras, so this is a great start for new members. This is a content rich class, so we recommend bringing a notebook. We will provide handouts for you to follow along.

This workshop covers:

• DSLR cameras & equipment

• Viewfinder features

• Manual camera controls

• Metering light

• Fundamentals of manual exposure

• Shutter, Aperture, ISO

• Depth of field

• White Balance

Bring your DSLR camera.

I am really interested in learning more about manual exposure. I want to get to know my camera better. Does this class have room for that, kind of like a one on one or is it a fast pace?

Hi Joanna. This class discusses balancing aperture and shutter speed manually, which can be a little confusing for some. We cover a lot of content in this class as a group but we can provide individual help when we go outside to shoot.

Kristen, this is not the class that was offered on Groupon. The Groupon deal is for our Introduction to Photography workshop, which can be found on our homepage. Let me know if you have any questions.

Can I take this workshop with a point and shoot camera? (Canon SX40)

    • Donald Carlton

Yes, that specific camera is an advanced point and shoot with manual mode. You may be limited in some areas, but as far as exposure, you will be fine.

@LeahKeefe - I am attending the class as well and I asked the same thing and one of the instructers ( I believe it was Nicholas) replied that it was indeed a typo and the class is from 10:00AM to 1:00PM on Sunday, Dec. 2nd. Hope this helps! -Alyssa

Hi there! Is there anyway to Skype me in? I would love to attend, but I'm in Texas. I took a couple of your classes when I was there in September and would love to return sometime.
