How to Write and Market Songs for Children- Special guest speaker Ron Franklin

Have you ever wanted to write and publish Children's Songs? It's fun, the musical equivalent of writing children's books. Whether you're a musician or a lyricist or a performer tonight's meeting will help you get going in this fun musical genre.

Special guest Speaker Ron Franklin is the Composer and performer for The Good Food Factory, a TV show broadcast throughout Southern California. Ron will be addressing these issues in his presentation:

Why Children's music? Which age groups?

What makes good Children's Music? Form, rhyme, musical vocabulary.

Writing a song to a specific theme and make it fun - brushing your teeth, cleaning the kitchen, etc...a

Where is the market? Radio, TV, internet, Music Libraries, local broadcasters.

Ron also has a number of CDs available in a number of genres. You can check out his website at

Please share with us a song after the presentation that you think could be a good children's song. Bring either lyrics, or a song that could work with new lyrics. You can share live or via an mp3 player. PLEASE BRING COPIES OF YOUR LYRICS so you can get constructive feedback about your song.

Ron was Awesome! I also really enjoyed the other singers that did their children's songs. Maybe we should all put out a "San Diego Children's Song Compilation?" CD?

Ron was fantastic. He gave clear ideas as to how to write an effective song for kids, and some of the effective ways to market the song once it's done.
