I play a lot of different styles, depending on who I'm playing with. Bluegrass, Folk, folk-rock, Blues. I write in different styles, too. I just let them come out the way they want to.
I play 5-string viola, mountain dulcimer, and ukelele. I can play some chords on the guitar. Sometimes I write a song on guitar and then get someone to play it better on guitar so I can play it on another instrument. I also sing. I'm good at harmonies.
I don't know at this point.
I consider myself a novice as a songwriter. I don't really know what my strengths are. I see myself more as one who could use some help from other more seasoned songwriters. If anyone is looking for a good fiddler with a unique instrument for their recordings, I'm available!
My website is www.annierettic.com. You can hear a few samples there. My duo Neck and Neck has a CD available on CD Baby. And my duo Wild Older Woman is coming out with our first CD on August 13th.
My name is Annie Rettic. I was steeped in classical music as a child and have played viola most of my life. Since coming here from the Midwest in 2006 and hearing other musicians' songs at open mics, I have started to write a few of my own.
Very cool people, happy to be part of it.
