This email is going out to all the Members of the Songwriting MeetUp
As you may know, we are now in our 4th year collaborating with the 48Hour Film Project. We also are now also working with a new exciting Indie Film Consortium. Both groups are unique, and very well suited for our local songwriting members.
This year we will have 2 separate levels of involvement. We have set up a email list for those members who compose and have their own recording gear, and can record and edit high quality recordings. But there is also a need for the rest of us who can not record but have some high quality songs that may work well in film or TV.
If you are in the first group and are interested in composing and recording music let me know. I may already have you on the list.
We have 2 mixers with film groups on our calendar. Tonight with the 48HFP, and May 3rd for the Consortium. If you do not have your own recording gear and are interested in composing custom soundtrack music you really don't need to attend these mixers yet, but you're welcome to join in.
If you want to share your music with these film directors and hopefully get into one of their projects you should follow the instructions here: http://www.meetup.com/sdsongwriters/pages/Film_Score/
This is essential, as all the film teams will be directed to this page to hear our music, find out how to contact you, etc... Make sure you follow the directions closely or the directors won't find you. Mixer is tonight 7-9 and Randy Jones Sports Grill.
On May 3rd we will be featured at a special mixer for the Indie film community. At the last meeting there were dozens of film directors interested in working with local composers. At this event we will feature 15 to 20 members who can compose, record, and edit quality soundtrack music. Each director will have 3 minutes to introduce themselves and play some short music clips. Then we will mix with the directors for an additional hour. Many of these directors have projects that do pay $$$. Members who do not record are welcome to attend too, bring some CDs to give to the directors. If you're interested first follow the directions on the link above then RSVP.
Both these meetings are listed on our events page, please RSVP and we hope to see you there.
