Bike Month Bike and Brunch

May is Bike Month! Come on out to celebrate on this Sunday Bike and Brunch ride, which is open to everyone, but women are more strongly encouraged to attend. If you know of anyone who might be interested, feel free to let them know about it.

We will travel on lower-traffic roads, and the route will be between 7-10 miles, including the ride back to the start. We ride as slow as the slowest rider, and if you're not too interested in climbing up hills, the route will be relatively flat. If an incline is more than you or your bike can bear, there will be no shame in walking. This ride is perfect for less confident riders, people who want to learn how to ride, riders who are interested in socializing, and/or those who just want to feel better about eating a few extra calories because you earned it!

After all, what might be even better than this ride is a place to sit and relax after all that work! Brunch-y goodness will follow. We will eat the West Cost Tavern.

They promised  a discount for our patronage :)

Please send a message if you do NOT plan on joining in for brunch. Please sign up before this THURSDAY, MAY 15TH so that I can make sure they have enough room for us. The reservation has already been made, but I need to know if we need to add more people by this Thursday.

After Brunch, we will  ride back to the starting place for those who need to return to cars. What’s expected of you:

- Even if you're waayyy out of practice, you should know the general concept of how to ride a bike.

- Please ride with the group, not ahead.

- You will not be required to wear a helmet if you don’t have one, but the use of a helmet is strongly encouraged.

- If you plan on driving, there is information about parking here: If you are unsure of where the Bea Evenson Fountain is, here is a map: Please note: this event is cross-promoted, so Velo Vixens may not be the only folks you see on this ride.

This is a regular monthly ride on the third Sunday of the month, so if you can't come this time and really want to, save the date for June 15th.

Happy riding :)

I really wish that I could join you ladies and gents, but I will be at a bike polo game in Clairemont starting at 12pm. Just message me if you would like to go or perhaps a short bike ride to the game then brunch. But never mind me, Carrie plans a spectacular bike and brunch. Perhaps next time.
