Pride Month Bike and Brunch

This ride is open to everyone, but we have reached capacity on the restaurant reservations.

For those living under a rock, July is Pride Month! And the third Sunday this month falls on pride weekend. Don't care? Not problem. Just come out and ride. Care? Well then, you're in luck, because we will pride ourselves up ...in rainbow and colors. Want to dress up your bike to show pride? Who wouldn't? Best costuming/bike decorating shall win a prize! Why? Why not?

We will travel on lower-traffic roads, and this month's ride will be a nice even 8 miles, including the ride back to the start. We ride as slow as the slowest rider, and if you're not too interested in climbing up hills, the route will be relatively flat. If an incline is more than you or your bike can bear, there will be no shame in walking. This ride is perfect for less confident riders, people who want to learn how to ride, riders who are interested in socializing, and/or those who just want to feel better about eating a few extra calories because you earned it!

After all, what might be even better than this ride is a place to sit and relax after all that work! Brunch-y goodness will follow. We will eat at Snooze Eatery: snoozeeatery.com/menu

THE MAXIMUM PARTY SIZE HAS BEEN REACHED, so if you sign up now, you will only be able to attend the ride and not brunch UNLESS THERE ARE CANCELLATIONS.

After brunch, we will also ride back to the starting place for those who need to return to cars. What’s expected of you:

Even if you're waayyy out of practice, you should know the general concept of how to ride a bike. Please ride with the group, not ahead. You will not be required to wear a helmet if you don’t have one, but the use of a helmet is strongly encouraged. This is a regular monthly ride on the third Sunday of the month, so if you can't come this time and really want to, save the date for August 17th.

If you plan on driving, Parking will probably be crazy at Balboa park, but there is information about parking here:

If you are unsure of where the Bea Evenson Fountain is, here is a map:

Hope to see you there :)

Please note: This event is cross-promoted, so Velo Vixens may not be the only folks in attendance.

Great ride. Fun group. Food was good too. Service was alittle slow, but can not have everything.

Hi Una! I'm not yet sure, as I am waiting for a few restaurants to get back to me. It will hopefully be somewhere in Hillcrest, though.

Una, it looks like we'll be dining at Snooze. They do have a few vegan options.

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
