Ride a 44 mile loop around Chula Vista

I'm riding a moderately hilly loop across Chula Vista. The route has been modified from original posting since Proctor Valley Rd east of Northwood is in a rather rough shape. New route is mostly the same, starting at E St trolley station and taking Sweetwater Bike Path east into Bonita, Chula Vista, East Lake, Otay Lakes to Pio Pico (or even to the intersection with Campo Rd/Hwy94) before turning back to the bay and E St trolley station via the Olympic Training Ctr. Route map: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/151594499

The only 'big' climb is on Otay Lakes Rd from Bonita Rd to East H St. That's about 1.5 miles of 5% grade (so if you've gotten up N Torrey Pines Rd from the beach to the golf course, this shouldn't be a problem for you). Lots of rolling hills along the way. If everyone feels good we can go all the way to the junction of Otay Lakes Rd and hwy94 (Campo Rd) or even to the start of Honey Springs Rd (48 miles total). If not we can turn around at Pio Pico (44 miles total).

If anyone would like to come along, please check your bike's tires, brakes, and cables before leaving the house. Bring at least 2 full bottles of drinks, snacks, spare inner tube(s) and pump or CO2 cartridges, and minimum $5 cash in case of emergency.

Michell! Am I too slow to join you ladies?

Hey Christa! Nah, you aren't too slow. We're going about twice as far as the ride we did a few months ago, tho, and a few more rolling hills to cross. I'm going for leisurely pace like the ride with Laura, tho. You're more than welcome to join! :)

Hi all. I can't start earlier than 10AM this Saturday, but I can change the route a bit to make the ride 3-4 hrs instead of 5 hrs long so the ride should be over by 2PM at the latest. Would that work for everyone? (alternative route: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes... ). It'd be 32 miles of rolling hills. No major climb. :o)

I have earlier commitments as well and can't start before 10am. I'd prefer the longer route w/climb but am ok with the shorter one if that works better for the others.

Looks like we're sticking with the original meetup spot (E St Trolley Station), then. :D

I wish I could join! I enjoy the CV rides. But I'll be in Tijuana building houses that day. Hopefully next time!

Hi ladies! So sorry, but will have to decline the ride this round. My son has part of a science project due next week and I'm thinking that by the end of this ride, he will be too pooped to complete any work!

No worries! Good luck to your son on the project. Does he get to blow anything up? (Just kidding!) :D

Any way we could start a little earlier? Perhaps at 8 or 9am?

Hi Wena. Sorry I can't make it earlier this Saturday. :o( Will try to the next time I post a ride, tho. :o)

Hi all. I changed the route a little bit since Proctor Valley Rd is in a rough shape east into the mountain. Heading to Pio Pico on Otay Lakes Rd just west of hwy 94 instead of going all the way to Jamul. Distance still comes out about the same, but there is less climbing and the view is still gorgeous. Should still take 5-6 hrs to complete. :)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
