I'm riding a moderately hilly loop across Chula Vista. The route has been modified from original posting since Proctor Valley Rd east of Northwood is in a rather rough shape. New route is mostly the same, starting at E St trolley station and taking Sweetwater Bike Path east into Bonita, Chula Vista, East Lake, Otay Lakes to Pio Pico (or even to the intersection with Campo Rd/Hwy94) before turning back to the bay and E St trolley station via the Olympic Training Ctr. The only 'big' climb is on Otay Lakes Rd from Bonita Rd to East H St. That's about 1.5 miles of 5% grade (so if you've gotten up N Torrey Pines Rd from the beach to the golf course, this shouldn't be a problem for you). Lots of rolling hills along the way. If everyone feels good we can go all the way to the junction of Otay Lakes Rd and hwy94 (Campo Rd) or even to the start of Honey Springs Rd (48 miles total). If not we can turn around at Pio Pico (44 miles total).
If anyone would like to come along, please check your bike's tires, brakes, and cables before leaving the house. Bring at least 2 full bottles of drinks, snacks, spare inner tube(s) and pump or CO2 cartridges, and minimum $5 cash in case of emergency.
