Thanks for the great meetup. Good talking with a few of you. If anyone else is interested in helping get bars and restaurants involved in accepting bitcoin shoot me a message.

Also, is anyone speaking this week? Maybe if the location is appropriate, and if I can snag a projector, maybe I'll do a presentation I've been working on if there's no one scheduled. About 20-30 mins, all the general info most people seem to want to know, with time for Qs at the end. JUST A THOUGHT, working on a projector still... no promises yet

Cause the nerds yelling over each other wasn't loud enough? :-)

I'm not sure how I missed all these people. I clearly did something wrong. I was at Liberty about 10 minutes late. The waitress pointed to a group in the front, they were getting up to leave. I asked if they were the bitcoin group. They just laughed a bit and said no. So were there others there? I had on a multi-colored plaid jacket, was there about 1:40 to about 1:45. Just a few minutes. Actually, Liberty is a good choice because it's so small! Not many people to ask.

Well, shoot. I wish the waitress had mentioned that. Actually I'm back home. Next week for sure. Same place, I hope. Since now I know where it is!!

We should put a sign up pointing people to the back ... and throw in something about going through the looking glass :)

AMAZING I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY ARE NOT RANKED AS THE MOST ACTIVE BTC MEETUP!!!!!

More seriously, it was pretty awesome. Everyone was really friendly, I made great connections, the place was awesome, I'm definitely going back just for the enjoyment value. Definitely the best meetup I've ever been to. I can't wait until I don't have an 8:30am monday stats course so I can go out (late) afterwards!

Great presentations. This is better than a university class.

Learned a bit more. Got fair deal on Litecoin, main objective. Decent presentations on Bitcoin and Namecoin

Good meetup. Interesting presentations, including Namecoin and tech behind it. Picked up some LTC!

Any midweek trading session? Anybody got LTC? What does everybody think about the plethora of coins hese days? How about that Ron Paul Coin?

    January 8, 2014

    • Tim

I'm sure someone will have some LTC this week. Also, met the creator of Dogecoin today, first words out of my mouth were...

Jokingly of course, but yeah... Too many Alt!! Much Confuse!! Waste Crypto?!

Also just a general call to all members, and I think i'm going to e-mail everyone to this affect too...

Please contact me if you think you'd be willing to give a short 10 to 15 minute presentation about anything BTC or Crytpo/Security related. Heck, any topic even tangentially related really. Economics, Currency Trading, whatever.

I'm hoping to line up at least 2 a month moving forward.

Looking to make connections in the Bitcoin community to help get Namecoin back on track. Willing to speak about Namecoin and my project, Speech.is (https://github.com/namecoin/namecoin/wiki/jsDNS/) and what makes Bitcoin so revolutionary.

    January 7, 2014

    • Zach

*help, not work :p Namecoin is no small, unimportant project. I really cannot express the importance of what is going on at the moment. To that point, when I say "talk about what makes Bitcoin so revolutionary" I don't mean in the traditional monetary sense. It solves a much more general theoretical problem that has implications far outside currency.

      January 8, 2014

    • Tim

Yeah, the currency/security (in the monetary sense, not crypto) aspect of BTC is really just an emergent property of all of the interesting stuff that's happening a couple levels up or down the chain, depending on how you look at it.

I heard the location might be changing this week.

      Correct.

If there are any panic sellers in Litecoin...nearing $25 range, and are interested in selling LTC, I am interested in that trade. I tried yesterday at the meeting to no avail. If the market dips (if we see $25 again) and you want to meet up, let me know. We can see if we can make a deal. Also, if there are any sellers, I may need to reconsider that price range if there is no dip at all.
I'd like to make this happen.
    Happy New Year

Setup an account on BTCe. Transfer in BTC and sell it. Now you have cash to buy LTC on BTCe.
