July meeting: "A Comparison of Cave and Wreck Diving" by Tom McCarthy

"A Comparison of Cave and Wreck Diving"

This presentation is intended to examine several aspects of Cave Diving and Wreck Diving in an attempt to educate and invoke discussion with the audience.  The lecture is designed for both experienced cave and/or wreck divers as well at those who are new or may have never participated in either. The new diver will enjoy the general overview and introduction of both types of diving while the experienced diver will hopefully walk away with some thought provoking ideas and concepts. The presentation is broken into three parts- Compare and Contrast, Standardization, and Rebreathers.

Bio:Capt Tom McCarthy is the Owner and Operator of EastCoastWreckDiving.com and the Long Island Dive Boat Tempest.  He is a Technical and Recreational SCUBA diving instructor for both IANTD and PADI.  While the bulk of his diving experience has been on North East Shipwrecks, he is also an avid cave diver as well. Tom has been diving Closed Circuit Rebreathers for 8 years and currently uses a rEvo MCCR.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
