Re: [php-49] Adios Seattle

Not a bad idea....I'm not unconvinced they saw my posts a few weeks back about all this.  In the certified letter I got from them, they warned me that disparaging their company anywhere, in any way, was forbidden and without time limit.  But I wasn't disparaging them, just seeking their advice and I had to use their name in case anyone else was working with them (Chameleon Technologies) and had advice, you know?

But I like what your suggestion.  I'd hate for other devs to get involved in what I did with an egregious clause.

Karen,

Do one last favor to the company that had a crazy 2 year non-compete. Send a nice complaint with supporting documents to WA Department of Labor and WA Attorney General describing how the unfair business and employment practices of the company forced you to move out of state.

If both offices get enough complaints, one of them will be forced to take action.

Congratulations and good luck.

I moved to SF last summer from Seattle. While I might not post to this group much, it is the best of all the PHP groups I'm in. Welcome to SF, the land of startups and nicer weather.

Hey all-

Again thanks for all of your advice concerning that crazy 2 year non-compete.  I ended up leaving my company in Seattle as it just wasn't worth funding a legal fight over that stuff (they sent me a scary letter and I just looked elsewhere).  But it looks like I did net a nice contract with Visa in the SF Bay Area.  My flight leaves this evening and I'll be moving down there.

However, I will still lurk on here forever.  This has been a great list and it's been fun getting to know the PHP devs in virtual form, at least, and one in real life form (JD).

So even if I'm in SF, can I still annoy you all with posts?  I just won't attending any meetings.  The PHP group in SF already seems less fun.  Very business like and stuff if you ask me.  But I guess I'll find out at their meetings if they at least give me beer and pizza.  I also am going to be doing Python for my new gig, which I love very much.
