vista hosts file

From: Mark S.

The other day I tried to help a friend setup a local WAMP environment on their vista machine, and on XP I can change my hosts file around so I can point domain names at my localmachine, e.g. [masked]       domain.com. But when I tried this on his vista machine, vista seemed to ignore it. I was wondering if anyone knew how to force vista to read the host file first before checking DNS?
