Seattle PHP User Group Message Board › Thank you and one more thing - SeattlePHP.org
On behalf of my employer, we want to thank all who made it to last
week's meetup, the presenters Brian & Jesse, and Ian & David for
giving us the opportunity to host the event. It was fun and
educational at the same time. I realized how hard it is to organize
such events, so hats off to the organizers of Seattle PHP Meetup. I
also remember exchanging emails with Casey Ryan back in September and
told him that HasOffers.com's plan to host the meetup and to bring
Rasmus is a good precedence for companies who wants to support the
local PHP community. So set up a meeting with David and Ian if your
employer is thinking of doing the same.
One more thing, I registered the domain SeattlePHP.org and forwarded
it to www.meetup.com/php-49 due to the following reasons:
- PHP-49 sounds like we're still using version 4 of php :-)
- Major PHP groups in the US have good domains like nyphp.org,
atlantaphp.org, pdxphp.org, bostonphp.org, etc.
- A lot of members had volunteered to host services like wiki, cms,
etc. in the past but are hosted on different domains.
- I believe that there's a need to aggregate blog content from local
PHP users and to create pages/content that are part or adjacent to the
PHP ecosystem like wordpress, drupal, joomla, magento, SQL/NoSQL
databases, cloud services, queue services, Hadoop, HTML5, jQuery, etc.
If any of you guys have a vision on what SeattlePHP.org website should
look or function, just let the whole community know and then I will
transfer or re-point the domain :-)
