Description from the SIFF website:

Crips and Bloods: Made in America

* Year: 2008
* Running time: 95 Minutes

It’s a civil war that’s lasted 40 years. Passed down from son to son. Fought an eye for an eye. Over 15,000 dead and counting, while the world stands by. Welcome to South Central Los Angeles. But what’s at the root of this long-standing battle? Filmmaker Stacy Peralta hits the streets of LA to find out, and speaks with former and current members of the Bloods and the Crips, two of the most notorious and violent street gangs in America.

    Powerful. I've seen it a few times, and it really gets me thinking every time. I appreciated the discussion afterward to bring in a local angle and discuss issues seen in the film we may have seen in Seattle.

    Provided great insights into what prompts one to give up hope to feel alive especially when the issue is complicated by the current social structure and the way it serves different classes and members of different ethnicities.
