We will be viewing the 85th Academy Awards ceremony in the clubhouse of the organizer’s condo complex in North Seattle’s Jackson Park/Lake City area. This locale is accessible by public buses (#73 from downtown/U-district and #347/348 from the Northgate transit center).
The ceremony begins at 5:00 and will last until 8:00 or so, but participants are welcome to show up starting at 3:30 to discuss films and to watch pre-show programming. We will be watching the ceremony on a wide projection screen.
This is a potluck, and all participants are required to bring both food and beverage (no alcohol) contributions. The food should be more of a finger food, and should not require extensive on site preparation (a stove, oven, and microwave oven are available). I will provide bottled water, lemonade, hot chocolate, and popcorn at no cost. A lengthier description of the potluck, as well as other details of this event such as directions and parking, will be emailed about one week before the event to the folks who have made reservations.
This event, unlike most meetups, takes place on private property, and the condo's property management company wants assurance that every guest at a private social event held in the co-owned club house is known to the host. To participate in this event you must answer the question that asks for your first and last name (actual name), city of residence, phone number, and email address. Failure to provide this information will result in your reservation being cancelled.
Who will be the winners this year? Argo? Jennifer Lawrence? Amour? Spielberg? Brave? Cheer on your favorites in the company of follow film lovers.
This event may be cross listed with several singles groups but cinema club members do not have to be single to participate.
Assistant Organizer Jennifer Reed will be hosting an Academy Awards party for this meetup group at her home in Redmond for the convenience of cinema club members who live on the East Side.
