Come see a film that the late Roger Ebert thought so much of, he picked it as one of the films to play at Ebertfest this year. Winner of 10 Goya Awards, including Best Picture, Blancanieves is a Spanish retelling of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs as a silent, black-and-white film. With bullfighting. 104 minutes.
FOR THIS SCREENING, SIFF IS OFFERING US A DEAL. WHEN BUYING YOUR TICKETS ONLINE OR IN PERSON FOR THIS EVENT, USE THE CODE CINEMA2013 TO GET YOUR TICKETS FOR $8 APIECE -- A $3 SAVINGS OFF THE REGULAR PRICE. NOTE THAT YOU WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO DO THIS FOR QUALIFYING MEETUPS. ALSO, ONCE YOU HAVE BOUGHT YOUR TICKET, DON'T FORGET TO PICK UP A PARKING PASS FROM THE BOX OFFICE WINDOW IF YOU ARE COMING BY CAR. JUST PULL UP TO THE CURB, GRAB THE PASS, AND PARK IN THE LOT FOR FREE.
Since we are seeing the 7:15 show, we will meet between 6:45 and 7 and head into the theater around 7:05, depending on how busy it is. Right now, the film is scheduled to be shown in Theater 3, which is the smallest of the theaters at the Uptown. I'll have a better idea of numbers after this weekend, but you should be able to buy your tickets at the box office on the day of show, rather than having to buy them online and pay the $1.25 per ticket service fee.
Here's the link to the film on the SIFF website, which includes a trailer: http://www.siff.net/cinema/blancanieves

Once the movie is over, we will regroup in the lobby (and wait for people who need to use the restrooms) before stopping at a local establishment for our usual post-film discussion.
Hope to see everyone there!
