Seattle Cinema Club Message Board › Tokyo Story at the Grand Illusion
Yasujiro Ozu's Tokyo Story is playing at the Grand Illusion today through Wednesday in 35 mm--the way it's supposed to be seen. In Sight and Sound's 2012 critics poll of the best films of all time, it ranked number 3 (behind Vertigo and Citizen Kane). In the director's poll, it ranked number 1.
Now, whether you think this is Ozu's best film or whether that honor should go to another one of his masterpieces (such as Late Spring), this is still one of his best, still one of the best films ever made, and a movie that every lover of film should see. It's playing 7:30 pm daily, with an extra showing Saturday and Sunday at 5 pm.

Note: while this is not an official meetup, feel free to find people to go with through this thread. As this is an intimate film in an intimate space, small groups are best, though it's usually not crowded.
