Sorry for this message being a little late, but I just found out that the best animated film of the year, Sita Sings the Blues, is showing tonight for one night only at Metro Cinemas (4500 9th Ave NE, near 45th St) in the U-District. It will be showing at 7 and 9; running time is 82 minutes.

Due to copyright issues (the song recordings used in the film are in the public domain, but the compositions aren't), Sita Sings the Blues has only been available on the web (go to www.sitahttp://www.sitasingstheblues.com, or search for "sita sings the blues" on youtube), which also means that it's not eligible for an Oscar. This may be the only opportunity to see this film where it is meant to be seen; in a movie theater.

And here's Roger Ebert's review: http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090429/REVIEWS/904229995/1023

This isn't a meetup, so feel free to come and enjoy the movie at your leisure!
