Slate Coffee Bar Explorer (BALLARD)

Let's explore one of the few Seattle coffee houses nominated for "Americas Best Coffeehouse" Competition to happen at Coffee Fest Seattle October 4-6th, 2013. They just opened May 2, 2013 and close every day at 4:00 PM.

These Yelp reviews describe them well: "WOW! what a gem. A new place down in Ballard on 6th (near Veraci Pizza)... inside they have very modern minimalist decor with warm, silvery wall and bar colors. old school stereo playing daft punk...The menu is simple-there is espresso or pour over made from rotating recently locally roasted beans. The results are excellent! In a sea of coffee houses here in Seattle this one stands apart for quality... Their baked goods sounds lovely though i had a gluten free dark chocolate-candied orange treat; when i walked in, i noted they were doing coffee tastings on one side of the shop ...they really take their time making your coffee one cup at a time, and they serve it to you in a a chalice! with a foam heart... if you are serious about your coffee and have a love-love relationship with it like i do, you will adore this place."

In Seattle their beans are brew at Aster, Broadcast and Plum Market coffee houses, so we know they are good; let's visit their very own first brick-and-mortar location! :)

LOCATION: (between 54th St & Market St)

PARKING: Street, metered

I hope I see you there!

Thank you all for coming. I sure liked their coffees, pastries and specially the presentation; I hope you did as well. Though they are too small for a Sunday meetup, they really tried to serve us well. And, as always, it's enjoyable to see you guys :)

Okay guys! We are ready to meet at Slate tomorrow at 1:00 PM. I talked with the manager and they will be expecting us. We have two people on waiting list so please, update your RSVP if you can not longer make it. Rob and Karen: you are welcome to join us, but maybe you will need to seat separate from us -it's a small coffee house. I am looking forward to see you tomorrow! :)

I'm sorry I am feeling a little under the weather. I think I will bow out for now. Have a good time!

At risk of sounding like an old lady, I would love to hear any suggestions people have about the best quality DECAF coffee/espresso in Seattle, both drip and pulled. In the latter category Umbria gets my vote, but so few places brew drip... pretty much just Peet's and Top Pot (and Starbucks, of course). If anyone knows any hidden gem places for especially good decaf, do tell!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
