The much heralded and awarded stage play "War Horse" will be in Seattle in February, 2013, for a limited run of ten days. We will attend the 6:30 performance on Sunday, February 17. The ticket prices for this evening are the lowest for the ten day run (except midweek matinees), and because this day is followed by a national holiday it will be like attending the Saturday evening performance which has the highest priced tickets. Participants can have an optional dinner or happy hour snack after the play and not worry about going to work the next day.
"War Horse" tells the story of Joey, a horse born on an English farm, and is sold to an impoverished farm family where the son develops an instant connection with the horse. Joey is drafted by the British Army to serve as the mounted steed ridden by a gentleman officer during World War I. The horse had many adventures on and near the battlefield.
"War Horse" originated as a children's book. In the 2000s it became a wildly popular production in London's West End, and in 2011 it was made into a movie that was nominated for "Best Film" at the Oscars.
For the theatrical production Joey is portrayed by a life size puppet what is operated by up to three persons. Here is a montage of scenes from the play so you get an idea of realistic this puppet appears:
If you are intending to participate in this meetup please email me at “[masked]” so we can go over what is available and work out the method of payment. I prefer payment by PayPal, and I will give you the account information. All sales are final. If you must cancel I will try to help you sell the ticket to someone else, but ultimately you are responsible for the disposition of the ticket.
