Google Code Jam 2014 Introduction

Google Code Jam is an international open programming competition held each spring.  The 2014 competition begins with the first qualification round on April 11th.

Mike Koss (Software Engineer at Google) will demonstrate how the code jam contest works by working through a sample problem with everyone.  Come and kibitz or bring your laptop to work along with us.

We anticipate a smaller meeting (holiday, I-5 one lane etc). This will suit what we plan to be a more informal session than a typical presentation. Please update your RSVP accordingly so we can order pizza etc.

Being Presidents day, the Exchange building is closed, so we will have someone on the door from 6 till 6:30 try best to arrive in this time. We will plan to post a text number for anyone arriving late. SDOT says parking is free. https://www.seattle.gov/transportation/parking/freeparkingdays.htm

If you can't come in person - join via Hangout on Air.

Our monthly GTUG meeting:

6:00: Networking & Pizza
6:15: Open Q&A - Ask Questions about any Google Technology
6:30: Group Announcements
6:40: Lightning Talks/Demos - (let us know in advance if you have something to show - 5 minutes)
7:00: Main Presentation
8:00: Q&A

Friends don't let friends park downtown, they train them in the art of public transit. :)

Great intro to Google Code Jam!! Say...should we do something to egg each other on to participate? or at least do the practice problems?

I'll work a complete example using Python - should be easy to follow. You're welcome to bring a laptop and work along with me (using any programming language you like).
