Learning to write Go

Jeffrey Hulten will present a talk on Learning to write Go

Golang is getting a lot of attention for services and applications that need to support concurrency. This August we featured Kubernetes: Docker cluster management both are written in Go.

Jeffrey Hulten is a DevOps community organizer, Whitepages Software Engineer, developer, systems guy, and gourmand.

Our monthly GTUG meeting:

6:30: Networking & Pizza
6:45 Lightning Talks/Demos - (let us know in advance if you have something to show - 5 minutes)
7:00: Main Presentation
8:00: Q&A

This event will be streamed via Hangouts on Air.

Fantastic presentation - seemed to be some problems regarding uplink throughput on the Hangout but content-wise the talk was outstanding!

And the Rob Pike talk on concurrency is not parallelism, which is also very good

Really enjoyed the talk and Milstead & Co. 2 blocks down.

Think someone asked about reflection or determining the type of something. Found this screencast which seemed very good to me,
Around the middle of it he gives a warning about reflection and then talks a bit about it with some examples.

REALLY enjoyed the presentation. Very informative and easy to follow, great resources at the end and especially liked the Golang search tip :)

You don't want to miss this meeting. Clive is going to sing "Let it go" at the beginning of the meeting.

I would like to give a demo during the Lightning talk section. Who should I contact to reserve a spot?

    October 18, 2014

    • Jason K.

Just find me. I'll be there early, probably in a dark shirt with a Eucalyptus logo, wearing Glass.

5 minutes is our preferred length for lightning talks - awesome if it's topical about Go. Thanks!
