BWO stealthy arrangements, Eric Ries is our special event speaker for Seattle GTUG (Google Technology Users’ Group). This special event, hosted by Google for GTUG members, is an incredible opportunity to hear Eric present his upcoming book, The Lean Startup, which is about entrepreneurship and startups. Entrepreneurs are everywhere. You don’t have to work in a garage to be in a startup!

Overview
GTUG welcomes @EricRies, the creator of the Lean Startup methodology. Eric is the author of the popular blog Startup Lessons Learned, and the creator of the Lean Startup methodology. He co-founded and served as CTO of IMVU, his third startup, which has today has over 40 million users and 2010 revenue over $40 million. An entrepreneur in residence at Harvard Business School and a frequent speaker at business events, he advises startups on business and product strategy using the Lean Startup approach. Eric will be introducing brand new material covered in his upcoming book, including:

  • Principles of the lean startup
  • Learning the new style of management required for the startup institution.
  • How to build startup processes that accelerate the speed through the Build-Measure-Learn feedback loop.
  • How to measure progress, how to setup milestones, and how to prioritize work.

Tickets for this special event are normally $25, which includes a pre-order of Eric Ries' upcoming Lean Startup Book, shipping this fall. Because you are GTUG members, we were able to present you with this talk - from Eric Ries himself - for free - though you have to order the book separately if you want it. We feel sure you’ll be yearning for more and so if you are inspired by Eric’s talk, we encourage you to order Eric’s book at http://lean.st/

Seating is limited. Must pre-register. Campus security requests guests sign a normal Google  guest NDA (not tracked in any way).

Eric was an amazing speaker, with a tantalizing idea - that most Startups are being managed ALL WRONG - there is a "science" to running a Startup and it's called Lean Startup Method and involves building a Minimum Viable Product. Eric walks-the-walk with his own company IMVU.

    I've pre-ordered the book - http://lean.st

Eric Ries is a excellent speaker and his ideas are fascinating. His lecture on "Lean Startup" was captivating on par with the movie "Avatar".

Great speaker, interesting material. The turn out was pretty good, but I didn't see many of the seattle tech luminaries. I would have loved it if more people running seattle tech companies had shown up.
