Seattle's First Official Google Meetup

Hello,

Welcome to Seattle's first Official Google Meetup! We're excited to announce that Maile Ohye developer programs tech lead, legal expert Daphne Keller and others will be on hand to answer questions, mingle and talk about all things Google.

Plan is to start with a few questions from you. So please visit our Moderator page to submit questions and vote on them in advance of the meeting.

First round's on us. Thanks, and look forward to seeing you later this week.

This sounds great. Hopefully I can make it - it is too bad this was announced with such short notice.

I'll certainly try to make it, but you've actually picked worst time for us eastsiders; one of bridges of I-90 is closed, and it takes hours to cross the lake to get Seattle...

Great event! Thanks for being so open - it was great that so many Googlers and engineers were there.

I got exactly what I wanted out of this event: just the right mixture of drinks, mingling, and infotainment. MORE PLEASE!

It was great meeting the people at google.

This was an excellent opportunity to get to know people from Google. We had a lot of great conversations about what Google is committed to for its users. We also got a couple ideas of possible future enhancements that Google might be creating to address user concerns. There were also a lot of other really cool folks there (like Raj), and the folks from Seattlest.com. It was a great time to get related, have fun, and relax with other tech minds who are out to make the internet better for all.

Not too bad for a first meetup - I had to leave after about 20 minutes of Q&A, it would have been better to start that earlier, or at least be clear as to when it was happening. There was a good bit of confusion as to when (or if) it was happening, and a good bit of people left early. But for a first shot, it worked out really well, I think - compliments to the Google crew for diving in. Most importantly, I did feel like Google wanted to be available/chat with us. It could have been done better, but that's part of getting a group together and seeing how it goes.

Ok for a first meetup. Too much time in the beginning. Some people had to leave before the Q&A started. Nice to see that questions were actually taken from the audience, but a little disappointed that the majority of it ended up being google-fan-application talk. Not so moch connecting with the "ordinary user", more with "that guy who works at this minor software firm somewhere in Seattle". Also: give waayyy more time in advance if you really want ppl to come and not just those who are on Twitter all the time.

I would have liked to have had some of the Google Moderator questions answered first.

I think that for the first even this was great. The employees were very easy to talk to and very personable. I look forward to other Google meetups and/or event.

Little to no structure at the event and a relatively poor venue for the purpose...I left after my first drink.

Pretty lame - no structured questions/interaction, or any direction in terms of topics. and the people i talked to were pretty obnoxious - we're here in seattle (read: msft's turf) and we're so cool that we're devs and engineers. first, and last meetup of this kind. ugh.

It was fun talking with people. I was so close to not make it, but I am happy I could!

Thanks for the free beer. I had an interesting conversation, and the Q&A was informative. That part was why I went, and I would have liked to see it last a little longer. A microphone or some amplification would have been helpful, for us hard of hearing in the crowd. All in all, a good Monday evening.
