This is the third year of the 'Heaven and Earth' outdoor art exhibit at Carkeek Park (in north Seattle near the intersection of Holman Rd and Greenwood Ave N.). It is really fun to walk amongst all the various pieces. I have enjoyed the other shows there. Come view art, draw or paint art or nature and check out a unique show. Maps are available either on-line or at the parking area above.
Art Exhibit details:
I will wait for folks at the parking lot by the education/environmental centers (first right after entering the park). I may switch to another area after 15-20 minutes, there are many spots to choose from in the park----meadow, shore, woodsy......it depends on how much stuff you have to carry and what you want as a subject. There are various parking lots to choose from that are closer to these areas. Remember, though, that it is still summer and the park might have a number of other visitors as well. Best plan would be to come early.
Option if riding the bus: the 75 goes down Holman and stops by the shopping center with the QFC/Patty's Eggnest. Get off as close to the shopping center as possible. Walk through the parking lot to the back of the store, cross the street. There is a park entrance across the street, at the intersection of 100th and another street. You should be able to find it, it's right across the street. There is also a small parking lot. You can enter the park this way but-----Warning----the path is steep and not suitable for those with lots of supplies or unhappy about going uphill on a trail (on the way back). I have asthma and I have to take it slow on days when I am feeling a little out of breath.
I am not available to lead a tour of this park, once you arrive you are free to explore on your own.
