Intro to Python at Jigsaw Renaissance

Our Intro to Webdev takes a turn onto the serpentine road of Python programming. Python is a language that can be used in Web development and in desktop application programming. It is used in education, scientific research, gaming, and more. Some educators argue that Python is the best first language for teens because of its simplicity and versatility. Try it out and decide for yourself.

This class is designed with the non-programmer in mind. We'll start with the most basic concepts, but the simplicity of Python means that we can build our first application together from the ground up on the very first day. Come see how easy it can be!!

Starting this week we will have a new Python teacher.

If you are interested in attending the class, please RSVP to give us an idea of how many people to expect.

How to get here: http://www.jigsawrenaissance.org/about/getting-here/

Your donation of $15 - $30 per class helps Jigsaw Renaissance offer this class and pays the instructors for their teaching time. If you'd like, you can "Chip In" at the website http://www.jigsawrenaissance.org/learning/webdev/. There is also a "donations" box available in the space.

No one will be turned away from class for lack of funds. In fact, since it's on the honor system, no one will even know.

Is this meet up still active? I'm looking to learn Python, and I have no knowledge or background with any type of programming.

There is no meetup scheduled. You should suggest it.

Will probably have to attend to issues related to my father's medical problems and will be unable to attend if this happens. Hope you guys have fun if I don't make it!

Covered intricacies of the basics that I never knew before, as well as a nice tour of the weeks to come that make me want to come back again.

I wish that I could attend one of these meetings but until I have more time I can't. I have to be at a shelter at 8 so an event that starts at 7 conflicts with my schedule slightly. I just learned of Jigsaw Renaissance and I love it. I have shifts at Volt Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and will be paying at least $15 if not $100 to use the space and support it. I want access to a 3D Printer so bad and I can't wait for the space to get one.

I noticed that the donation link does not work. It says the event has ended.

What is your personal goal of learning Python, and how familiar ar you with the language?

    September 12, 2012

    • Brandon B.

Personally, I know enough of the language syntax that I feel comfortable with python. However, I would like to be able to master the basic, most common python modules.
