A cancelation to Bear Mines occured because of a road closure, so two seperate hikes will occur, rather than having an overflow. Our new destination for this group is Melakwa Lake.

With the trailhead at Denny Creek from I-90's exit 47, it's a well maked trail going by Slippery Slab that has a bridge out, but crossing was fine on downed trees over the creek last weekend. We'll continue past Keekwulee Falls and Snowshoe Falls up to Hemlock Passhen, then over to Melakwa Lake

Round trip: 9 miles
High Point: 4900 feet
Elevation gain: 2600 feet in, 350 feet out

Meet: 8:00 AM, Sat June 27th @ Bellevue Park and Ride. Look for my silver Chevy pick-up.

Please corresponde on this site with any issues as I will be out of state until Wed.
For last minute issues, my cell is [masked]

Sorry for the late change, but it was needed.

For those who RSVPed "yes", let me know whether or not you're attending the new destination of Melakwa so the waiting list members have a chance to join us....Thanks

    •  The bridge at Slippery Rocks is out, but a rocks have been placed for easy crossing. After a solid rain, that crossing would be questionable though. Spotty snow existed on the upper trail near the pass, but it was solid with no post holeing. Melakwa is still 90% frozen over, and the trail to the opposite side requires caution as it goes over the frozen lake, but it's getting thinner. Sorry to see so many no-shows. The three of us had a terriffic time and some un-beleaveable stories were told, and I really mean un-beleaveable. Neri and Fuzzy, thanks for the good time.
    •  I'm so glad that I didn't bailed out when the destination changed, or when I realized that I was going to the woods with two men I've never met before :) Great place, great company. Thanks guys for putting up with me! by the way, the bushy-brows Soviet guy is Leonid Brezhnev - http://en.wikiped... :)
