Friday is supposed to be a gorgeous day, so I thought I'd kick off the long weekend with a hike. I've never been to Annette Lake, but a friend was just there and said it was worth the trip. Expect to see wildflowers and waterfalls - no snow until you get to the lake. 7.5 mi RT, elevation gain of 1700'. It's supposed to be in the 80s, so be sure to bring plenty of water and sunscreen, as well as snacks. I tend to be a fairly moderate paced hiker, not feeling the need to run up the hill, but definitely want to get a workout. Since it should be a pretty quick hike (guidebook says ~4 hours) maybe we can have a snack by the lake and stop for a late lunch on the way back if folks are interested.
Meet at 8:30 at the Bellevue P&R, leave at 8:45 sharp. I will send contact information to those that RSVP. I have a silver Honda Fit hatchback with a roof rack and will be on the east side of the lot. Hope to see you there!
Well-behaved, friendly, leashed pups are welcome:-) Be sure to post if you're bringing your furry friend so others know.

This is a very popular trail leading to a small lake beneath the western face of Silver Peak. At the trailhead also find a short interpretive trail to the left with signage identifying different tree species.
The trail to Annette Lake is to the right following an old road for a short distance before turning to the left into a true trail. Walk through recovering clear cut and encounter the John Wayne trail after about 1¼ mile. The trail then switchbacks up gaining elevation before leveling off about a mile before the lake. A waterfall fills the lake from the Silver-Abiel saddle to the east.
This trail is very popular with school groups and often provides the first camping experience for boy scouts. There are only a handful of camping sites; however, so don't plan on spending the night here in quiet seclusion.
This trail is also a popular winter route for snowshoers, skiers and climbers heading for Silver and Abiel peaks. Winter recreationists should be warned that several dangerous avalanche chutes need to be crossed. Check avalanche conditions and take proper precautions.
