the hiawatha trail is crushed stone like really fine, a roadbike would make it , its listed as one of the most beautiful rides in the country. i will be at hotel in wallacwe around 6ish or 7pm, so all need to email me provately ur phone no so we can meet for dinner at a brewery!i have posted mine

Frank, I am looking forward to the weekend. As I mentioned earlier Lauren Roman, Greg Myrick and I will be leaving from Seattle Friday morning. This is Lauren's first trip east of Ellensberg, so we will be doing a little touriting enroute. Maybe we can all plan on meeting up at the brewery in town later Friday evening to plan for Saturday - say 8 PM or so. The Hiawatha trail is compressed rock rather than asphalt, so not sure I want to ride with my road bike. Maybe do the out and back from Wallace on Saturday, drive to Cataldo (I-90 is near there trail there) on Sunday and do the western half of the trail (out and back) and then leave Wallace in good season Monday to avoid the grid lock on I-90 at Snoqualomie pass in the afternoon. Just an idea! See you in Wallace!!

I will be riding with Lauren Roman and Greg Myrick. We might just travel directly to Wallace from Seattle. We are making reservations at the Stardust Motel for Friday through Sunday nights. Thanks for the great idea. Looking forward to the trip.

Sounds interesting - I had a horrible experience with a rail trail a few years ago but it required heavy duty mountain bikes. It would be wonderful to a ride like this on my trusty yellow Bianca road bike. Am I right that we are riding the train out on Saturday to Wallace and then back to our cars on Sunday?

this is a rail to trail meaning that the trail was built on top of a railroad making it a no elevation trail. we will be taking our bikes to plummer idaho and riding for 60 plus miles to wallace where we will stay at a hotel, i left the phone no so u can book or share a room,

I'm interested but is this possible to do without a road bike? How fast do you plan to ride the trail?

    April 18, 2013

i ride at a leisure pace, i am not into riding really fast as i like to stop and take pics, plus there is so much beauti to observe, it will be a all day ride though, i expect to be on the trail by 8am and arrive early evening to hotel
