You resolved at the beginning of 2013 that that flab would become fab! (You know what I’m talkin’ about) and you are seriously ready to break up with your treadmill and hit the trails? Here is your chance! Each Saturday starting in March we will begin the early morning adventure; most of the hikes I am hosting take approximately an hour up and hour down. This means you have from 0930 to start the rest of your day, with high energy!
I will change up the location for these hikes, but know that some may go a little longer than the two hours based on your pace. If you are a slower hiker you will be able to meet others at your pace. I tend to be mid-to-fast paced (2.5mph avg). I will wait at the top for ALL hikers and provide support and motivation along the way (I’m not a cheerleader, but I do want to see you succeed!)
I am currently going to stick to hikes in the Issaquah Alps area and will post the hike accordingly.

Suggestion: Bring snacks. It is recommended you bring something warm too.
The 10 essentials. Short hike such as this you may limit the amount of supplies you need, but here are the 10 essentials anyway: Nutrition (food), hydration (water), insulation (rain gear/extra clothing, GLOVES!), emergency shelter (small emergency bivy), navigation (map & compass), first aid kit & repair kit (for you!), sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), illumination (headlamp). There are always other items you should carry with you, but you will learn along the way.

This adventure will likely be a little slower, but I typically hike at 2.5 mph. If you are not in shape or are a beginner hiker IS the trip for you. You will be able to improve your hiking skills and meet others on the trail too!
We will take plenty of breaks throughout the day. It is recommended you bring snacks to enjoy on the trail. During the hike we can cover any questions you have about equipment, navigation, first aid, regulations, other hikes, or anything else I can help you with. My 10 years of First Aid instruction to my 20+ years hiking is information I am always willing to share!
I hike rain, sleet, snow, shine…we live in Washington! Don’t let a little rain stop you from enjoying the outdoors.
Q: Do you run? A: Some of the folks on my hikes like to run; the majority of folks who attend these hikes maintain a moderate pace (we stop once in a while, but this is not a stroll). It is important for me to keep all hikers at a similar skill level for group safety. Please reach out to me if you are concerned about your skill level.
Q: Will you still hike in the rain? A: Yes, a little light rain never hurt anyone…unprepared for the rain though could; please come prepared for ANY weather condition.
Q: Do I have to bring a headlamp? A: Yes, any sort of lamp or torch to get you down safely.
Q: Where do you meet? A: I will always meet in the WEST LOT at the Eastgate Park and Ride (as I have been doing all summer)…look for the lot closest to the hotel. Please note, with changes of season we will be leaving promptly at 5:45pm from the WEST LOT.
Q: What do you look like; how will I find you? A: I look just like my picture…and you will find me standing with others in the WEST LOT.
Please dress accordingly and be sure to have your ten essentials (water and snacks as desired). Also, as a friendly reminder: this is a conditioner, not a leisurely stroll.
