Olympic Peninsula Loop Overnighter in Quinault

So riding back from the Lake Whatcom/Mt Baker Sunday (8/11), Robert from Seattle Riders talked about a trip he did where the group stayed over in Quinault.  I had just recently put together Olympic Peninsula Loop route to check off some of my Destination Highways roads off the 101 - so it's seems kismet and this ride's meant to be.

We'll be staying at the Rain Forest Resort Village. Check in is @ 3PM. The plans' the check in early and just hang out for the afternoon/evening before a 6 hr day of riding Sunday.  Robert and I have already booked rooms.  Post comments to let us know if you'd like to share.  Details:

• Claudette's: Cabin 18 - comes with 2 queen beds, full kitchen, lake view, outside seating.  Cost is $190 (including tax) for the night, so ~$47.50 per person for 4.

• Robert's: 2-Queen bedroom suite, bottom floor far west pair of rooms. $65 is your share.

Plan to take the 10:10am Fauntleroy ferry (arrive around 9:45am, advised getting ticket online to avoid going over to the terminal) and riding from Southworth to avoid I-5 over the Shelton then up the 101 to Quinault.  From there on Sunday continue up through Fork, detouring to Ozette Lake, then the 112 to 101 to the Kingston ferry.

Can also add an extra meeting point for south end riders to join us.  Please post suggestions.  Thinking somewhere in Shelton would be good.

Guests and all levels welcome.  We'll split into groups again based on ride style so everyone can ride their own ride and have a blast!!

My first group ride and it was great! Incredible route picked by the indomitable Claudette. Great support from my fellow girl riders (how do you say that correctly?). Looking forward to more.

Welcome Al! Feel free to post your photos here. I'll be posting mine w/i the next few days. Also be sure to check out my blog: TheDivaBiker.blogspot.com for a ride report later this week. I'll even post some of my ride stories there. Great to be writing again. :) Thanks for the idea/reminder about blogging.

Thanks everyone for the great company on this ride. Sorry you weren't able to join us Robert (who gave us the idea), Alan S (though another Alan joined us from PNWRR) and JT. Another overnight ride with 3 women and 1 guy - what a unique experience for him. LOL With the decent weather and terrific roads from yesterday, not to forget the fabulous location of the cabin, stunning lakeside views and the scrumptious sunset dinner, I think it was worth the bit of rain we weathered through today (we didn't complete the loop). I must admit, I did duck down t ride a little lower on he bike when the lightening started up when we got off the Fauntleroy ferry. Hey enough to delay the football game. All in all, another great group overnight ride. I plan to write a more details ride report, use my blog I have out somewhere in prep for my book. ;)

The poker Tournament is at 6pm. I have also reserved a room at The Ramada Inn at Ocean Shores. 3 miles from the Quinault Casino, with shuttle service to & from casino. It's a two queen bed room. If anyone wants the 2nd Queen bed, let me know & your half of the room cost would be $46.50. Prefer a female roomie. I plan on hitting the casino for dinner & poker tournament at 6pm. Then meeting back up with the group for breakfast Sunday am wherever the group determines (at the Rain Forest Village maybe, or elsewhere) ** - Tammy

Looks sensational! I'd love to come but I'm out of town until very, very late on the 14th and will be recovering from a longish trip. Damn. Next time.

Bummer. I knew we were close and was thinking about you, but that 1st weekend was split between months. Unfortunately the following weekend is the Oyster Run. Hope we'll do this again if it goes well.

With luck and a favorable tailwind "next time" will be soon. And otherwise there'll just have to be somewhere else to run with y'all. Last weekend's Mt. Baker & Mosquito Lake tour was incredibly fun with beauty, involving roads and nice folks, hitting all the buttons for why I love riding. Thanks Claudette and Robert for a great time.

I just booked cabin 18 - a 2 queen bed studio with outside seating for 4. I'll add your room info in the event details. What's your room number? Did you get 2 rooms or a 2 bedroom suite?
