Oyster Run 2013

  • September 22, 2013 · 11:00 AM

It's time again for the Oyster Run. I will be leading a ride up.  I would like to lead a co-ed ride up to say hi to others coming up for the Oyster Run, you don't have to leave your male counterpart at home so come and join us.

If you don't already have plans you can join me for a casual, late start at 11am from Costco in Woodinville, or I can meeting point in Lake Stevens Safeway around noon for others.

Here is the route up for those that like to print, if rain than the trip will be more direct down hwy 9 to Sedro Wooley. http://goo.gl/maps/TpTqn.

Would have been a 5 if it had rained on the way home too!

Great ride route. We lucked out and my group had decent weather all the way from North Bend to I think just before Sedro-Wooley, then it all turned to crap... cold, wet, crap. But dried out again just as we rolled into Anacortes. Nice & dry allowing us to stroll around & take advantage of the great prices at the booths that were still open & see the bikes that were still there. I was able to buy a nice pair of Frogg Togg's for the ride home, which again was rain free for me, all the way until I closed my garage door in North Bend... no joke it started dumping rain the second I closed the door, like torrential downpour for 20 min... whew

I was mostly dry after you guys broke off. I stopped in Fife for fuel and then it took me almost 1.25 hours to get home from there. Traffic was stop and go from just south of Tacoma.

I was gonna try, but it's after 10 and I'll never make it out there in time-maybe I'll still head out but don't wait-I won't RSVP cuz I'm so late Too bad nobody's leaving from Seattle.

I'll be there if it's not pouring. Have a new pillion rider that's not too keen on trying torrential rain for some reason.

For those of you in doubt, if it rains I am still riding my bike. I will still be at location as mentioned That is what rain gear is for. The only exception will be limited twisty roads and more direct down hwy 9. Remember Anacortes weather is usually nicer than Seattle weather and the forcast currently for sunday shows 60% rain and mostly cloudy.

I still plan in going at this point. My friend is going to help me attempt to repair my Frogg Toggs tomorrow night so I can try to keep dry no matter what. See you at Costco.

I have a ride-in meet up spot at 10am for those coming from the far east side. Meet @ The Fall City Bistro, right there where 202 & 203 meet in Fall City, just past the round-about getting onto HWY 203. Let me know if you are joining us to ride-in to the Woodinville Costco. If rain, my group may not be going.

Hey Allen & others, are you coming up HWY 18? My guest & I can meet you just past the 18/I90 interchange to take HWY 202 past the falls to Woodville Duvall Rd to meet others at Costco. We should meet there about 10-10:15am

... that's why I prefer the 202/203 & Woodinville/Duvall road route. It takes a bit longer (bout 45-hour from the parkway) but since the Costco meeting is a late start @ 11am, it gives me plenty of time to get there. If you are coming from Fed Way HWY 18 is a straight shot up to meet me, but you are right it would add some time to your ride, and there are a bunch of riders that don't like HWY 18, it can be dangerous in areas with no center divider (it's a lot like HWY 2)
