This is part of a WORLDWIDE biker event. There is a group in Holland who has started a Facebook page/movement called "Bikers 4 Orcas". They promote freedom for Orcas and other Cetaceans, in the way the bikers also enjoy their freedom ..... ;-) cool idea. Anyway, there are rides schedules all over the world on this day. Some to or from various Aquariums around the world, not really in protest but just to support the cause and raise awareness. To me it's a great match, two causes I care deeply about - animals and motorcycles ! :-)
Meeting point will be the Harbor Point Chevron gas station at 12701 Mukilteo speedway. Everyone can gas up if they need to. We will head down and catch the Mukilteo-Clinton ferry , a short < 30 minute boat ride. We will then proceed around the Langley loop, stopping for a quick visit to the newly opened Langley Whale Center, and maybe a photo op by the Whale Bell Park - locals ring the bell when they spot one of the local resident gray whales! :-) From there we'll enjoy a leisurely, scenic ride up Whidbey Island. We will stop to enjoy the breathtaking view over Deception Pass for a few minutes, then travel onward a few miles to our destination of Rosario Beach. Bring a brown bag lunch, I will see if I can rope one of my kids, or a volunteer?, in to meeting us with cold drinks/ snacks ;-) but bring your own munchies just in case ;-)
This is a co-ed ride, feel free to bring spouses and/ or friends. This is going to be fun day, hopefully with great riding weather, and a chance to be part of a worldwide event! I have made some commemorative pins which I will be handing out to all participants as well. See you in June!
* Total route is about 62 miles one way. This is a ride that anyone should be able to do, novices are welcome. There won't be any freeway, unless someone wants to ride home down I-5, I will leave the return up to individuals.
