Let's venture on a SAFARI!

Ethiopian is what comes to mind when Seattleites think of African Food. Our palettes are accustomed to it probably due to huge number of Ethiopian restaurants gracing our neighborhoods.

But not many are familiar with the food of the great East African nation- Kenya. The most delightful element about Kenya cuisine is its distinct flavor which it draws from a variety of ethnic traditions merged with the spices and tastes of outside countries.
How? Because of Kenya's long-standing relationship with foreign settlers and its colonization by the British, delicious infusions of Indian, Portuguese, Arabs and of course numerous African influences make their appearance in many Kenyan dishes.

Kenyan Native - Jane Kagira’s Safari Njema offers us this diverse food cuisine that is unique due to medley yet achieves straight-forward balance of natural flavors.
The menu is designed as a bit of choose-your-own-adventure, with each entrée coming with a choice of mapunje (starch) and samba (vegetable).
The highlight of the Safari Njema is Kagira's hot sauce—called Tsavo Spice which is her own creation.

Some Kenyan staples:
Ugali, Githeri, Nyama Choma, Sukuma Wiki, Pilau, Kachumbari, Chapatis, Samosas.

Price: The price for this dinner will be pre- fixed and includes gratuity making it easy for everyone involved. The price is set to $13.99 per person. If you like the food and service, you are encouraged to tip more. Drinks are not included in this price.

There is a No Show policy (two strikes)
Please no no-shows or last minute cancellations.
Please be considerate and update your RSVP if it changes. PLEASE NO NO-SHOWS.

Please note I have locked down the RSVP's 29 hrs prior, i.e, no one on the waiting list moves up after that point. This is so that I can give the restaurant a final count at that point. Any member, who changes their RSVP after the set deadline, without contacting me, either by phone or email, will be marked as a No-Show.

This is a small restaurant and it will lose serious business even if one person doesn't show up. Food preparations will be done ahead of time for people attending. One person doesn't show up and that is quite food wastage.

I will email everyone that has RSVP'ed yes, the night before with my cell phone number.

(If you back out 4 times, after the RSVP period has closed, you will also be removed from the group.)
