Although I have yet to find THE best Jjajang Myun (Blackbean Noodles) or Champong (Spicy Seafood Noodles Soup) in WA, Sahmgookji has become one of my favorite comfort food places to go when I'm craving for these two dishes. What better way to end the grueling work week - carbs!!
Please note that if you're a picky eater, this event will not be suited for you. If you have dietary restriction, please do not RSVP for it as the restaurant will not accommodate such requests, unless it's to leave out simple ingredients, such as meat.
A little background: When the Chinese immigrated to South Korea, they introduced various dishes to the Korean community, but these two by far, have had the most influence in shaping the Chinese Korean food culture in Seoul. Note that Jjajang Myun is NOT the Chinese version of it. This version will be more robust in flavor and rich w/ a full-on Blackbean paste sauce. It's darker in color and will come w/ tons of sauce sauteed in various ingredients such as pork and veggies. The owner is a super nice Chinese lady who lived in Korea. She speaks better Korean than I do and will take good care of us.
Yes, they do offer other menu items to choose from: Spicy Seafood Noodles, Chinese/Korean style S & S Pork (Ttangsuyook), and Bokumbob (Fried Rice) and more. Please note the portions are HUGE. This a perfect restaurant to order your dish and share!
Price: Reasonable. Please bring cash as group paying can be a pain for these restaurants and it will inconvenience everyone. I typically order two dishes here and it comes to about $25 w/ tax and tip.
Parking: Private lot
RSVP: You know the rules. If you cannot commit, don't RSVP for it. See our no-show policy page for the full details. Have some common sense and courtesy and update your status if you cannot make it at least 48 hours in advance. I WILL boot anyone off this group w/ two no shows after this event.
