The Chef in the Hat is Back! Loulay

Named for his hometown of Saint Hilaire de Loulay in France, Thierry Rautureau will be officially unveiling Loulay Kitchen & Bar tonight; it's his first project since shutting the doors of his beloved Rover's this past June. Dinner starts at 5 pm and there are no reservations left. Regular hours of operation will be daily from 11 am to 11 pm, which gives way to many more dining opportunities.

The menu is not as preciously French as Rover's; it more so reflects the chef's childhood memories, "including hot chocolate with brioche and salted butter that is based on a recipe shared with my grandparents in the morning around the farm kitchen table in France." Salmon, sweetbreads, duck confit sliders share menu space with braised rabbit and oysters on the half shell.

Hopefully we can reserve the dinner table overlooking the kitchen, providing the best bird's-eye view."

What's this about a menu change? What is the menu now? Was starting to head to downtown, but now not sure.

We were planning to order individually off the regular menu, but Rhonda found out this afternoon that when the reservation was made for the 2nd table, they switched everyone to a 3-course fixed-price menu. See Rhonda's email from this afternoon with the price and choices.

Thanks Nat. I just found her email. We will not be coming. Like others; we had specific items we wanted to order

Due to a change by the restuarant, set menu, if you would like to cancel out and reset at another time where you can make a selection from the menu, go ahead. I have notify the restuarant that I did not tell my group there would be a set menu with a set price. I am sorry, this was changed out of my control. Rhonda

I'm sorry, too, Rhonda. I was really looking forward to this event the way it was originally scheduled. The larger group with the set menu doesn't appeal to me, so I've cancelled, too.

I agree Pam. I am unable to take the set menu myself. There will not be any NO SHOWS for cancellation tonight due to this change at the 11th hour........sigh.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
