Although I appreciate "fine" dining, I'm more inclined toward (and appreciative of) simpler fare prepared impeccably, and with good "value." My own heritage is a blend of Irish and Italian. I like to think that combo of DNA highlights my appreciation of good, fresh "peasant" fare of all stripes shared with family and friends, and illuminated by accompanying drink, music, and spirited stories. I appreciate and savor the full spectrum of ethnic fare—a global smorgasbord including Austrian, Belgian, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Mexican, Philippino, Russian, Thai, Vietnamese. And, of course, the full spectrum of styles/cuisines throughout the United States, from Southern "comfort fare," Tex-Mex favorites, New England stand-bys, Pacific Northwest favorites—and everything in between.
• Irresistibly fresh fruits and vegetables • Impeccably fresh fish and seafood • Artisan cheeses, breads, and pasta • Fine but affordable reds and whites (wine) • First (and only) great cup of coffee each day • Theo chocolate
As noted above, I'm a resourceful, spirited, and intrepid home cook. I love planning, shopping for, preparing, and otherwise hosting/orchestrating delicious, intimate, and memorable meals for family and friends. I welcome help with clean-up!
Yes, photo is "actual"—and my real first name is Robin.
Hello! I was a food/wine feature writer and a dining critic in a previous professional chapter. I'm an intrepid and energetic "home cook"—and I'm intrigued by all aspects of food, from field to table to shared feasts with family and friends.
The mix of 5 diners was great—different ages, ethnic backgrounds, and professional interests. Conversation was spirited and never flagged. All women, as it turned out, but that was fine! Lorrie was a gracious and efficient organizer. Obviously, I really enjoyed the meal and the evening. Thanks!
