Hi Don,

Love your candor.  Just having scheduling problems to match your events.  Thanks for all you do.

PS  Lots of work and it is appreciated.  I so wish I could be that forthright with some of my prospects/clients.

Subject: [secondwindgetaways-listmeetup-com] Change of Meetup times and other concerns

I'm sending this email out for a few concerns I'm having. I'll keep it very brief as I have a lot going on right now.

My main concern is the rating of the hikes and other events I have scheduled. Please rate the hikes I have scheduled based on the places, scenes and all else that has to do with the hike or whatever I schedule. The reason for this concern is I have many members who rate the event based on the people who didn't get along well with one another, the drive to and from a destination or because the organizer was late.

This past weekend was a perfect example of this. It was heart wrenching to read some of the juvenile comments left by a few members who rated the Maroon Bells or the Thomas Lake Hike very low because they couldn't find the organizer or they had a falling out with another member. I've had to actually ban a few members who really screwed this weekend up because they couldn't get along with other members. It sucks to put this much work into scheduling what should have been a very nice weekend and have it messed up because of people not getting along with one another.

Regarding the hikes to Rocky Mountain National Park for the days of Sept 29-30 and Nov. 10-11. I'm going to change the times on all four of these hikes to 10AM. There are several reasons for this. First, I am unable to wake up early enough to make it somewhere by 8-8:30 am. I don't have a tolerance to listen to people this early in the morning. If people actually knew how much they bitch, complain and gripe about something so insignificant as a hike and everything else you couldn't even begin to imagine what I have to listen to as an organizer. It's a real mind blower.

The second reason is I don't want people to hurry, race from wherever they're coming from to be on time for an event I have scheduled and perhaps get into a car accident or other type of misfortune on the way. What people see in starting a hike so early has always bewildered me.

And I guess the third reason is many people have dogs they have to find care for and that takes time and sometimes they have to wait until a certain time for the kennels to open up.

Last but probably most important is I do my best to write out the directions for a hiking trail. The reason for this is I may be late for some reason or other and expect a member to take the controls in case I'm late. When I schedule a hike etc the time I post is when the hike should start and not the time to be at a carpool destination or the trailhead. If the posting says 10am that's when the hike starts so be there at least 15 minutes before to do whatever business you have to take care of. I don't expect people to wait if others are late. Just catch up and make sure you bring a copy of the directions so you can catch up if you desire to.

This is about it..hopefully,

Have a great week everyone!!!
