Pretty sad day isn't it. Unbelieveable. I was hiking with another group yesterday and during introductions, Debbie the organizer of the Baby Boomers Social Club asked everyone what they most love doing. I said, "Teaching is what I love to do the most."
Though teachers all around the world didn't know the names or ever even seen the faces of the students who were killed in Connecticut yesterday, those kids are in our classrooms every single day of the school year. We see our kids in the stores, malls, movie theaters all the time and just within a moment in time that child belongs to us. We lost 20 of our students, a couple teachers and administrators yesterday. Who would have thought being a teacher or a student could be the most dangerous part of our lives.
Anyway, I just received the list of fee free days for America's National Parks!!! I would like anyone who has any ideas what National Park here in Colorado you would like to hang out in, take some photos or do some hiking and camping please let me know or you could just do it yourself and organize your own. And if you want to do a road trip to another state I'm sure the group would be up for that as well. I'm really up for Mesa Verde down in the southwest part of Colorado. Mesa Verde is one of Colorado's National Parks as is: Rocky Mountain National Park, Great Sand Dunes, Dinosaur and The Black Canyon in Gunnison.
Here are your National Park Fee Free Days for the 2013 year!
January 21 Martin L. King Day
April 22-26 National Park Week
August 25 National Park Birthday
September 28 National Public Lands Day
November 9-11 Veteran's Day Weekend!!!
If you schedule something for the same day as someone else is...Don't worry about it!
Be good and take care of yourselves,
