Hike The Nehantic Trail: Begin at Hopeville Pond

Let's hike the Nehantic Trail!

PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION THOROUGHLY.  YOU SHOULD HAVE RECENT PHYSICAL CONDITIONING OF UP TO FOUR HOURS DURATION BEFORE DECIDING TO DO THIS HIKE.   We will cover a signifacant distance with a few short brakes.  Some of our friends from the RI based group, LIFE!! will be joining us.

We'll begin our hike at the BEACH OF HOPEVILLE POND STATE PARK and take the blue blazed trail until we get to the other end at Green Fall Pond and return on same, or we all decide to turn around and go out to a late lunch ;»}

Here's a great article from The Day on this trail:

http://www.theday.com/article/20140420/ENT18/304209979/-1/ENT#.U1f3h47D_MI

There WILL BE BUGS & there WILL BE SUN.  MUD AND WATER  can be anticipated on the trail as well.  (nothing we can about the snakes )  Please prepare accordingly.

Bring lots and lots of water, snacks, hiking boots and as always, your good humor;>)

    I put DEP map along side GPS map. The hiker icon in far right of DEP is Mt Misery. We went right and should have went left. It was so close! Right there

      Looks like we zigged when we should have zagged; how could a mountain be hidden in Eastern, CT?

    Hi Heather, The Day article says it 6.5 hours, 13 miles from Hopeville to Green Falls Pond. Meetup says we are going there and returning. Am I reading this right?

      Hi Jeanne, Oh No, not 26 miles! We'll proabably hike between 7-10 total. Most of us will be working the next day:)
