Let's attend a Free Book Presentation - Dr. Hutton's Rose Lore

  • Oct 25, 2012 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Dear Members, below is a brief description of Dr. Hutton's book and presentation:

Throughout history and across cultures, important figures such as Nostradamas in France, Daniel Andreeve in Russia, Dr. Edward Bach in England, and Dr. Tomin Harada in Japan have brought to light the symbolic and medicinal qualities of the rose.
Written by scholars and researchers from diverse backgrounds, the essays in Rose Lore are a rendering of global cultural history, literature, and metaphysics, woven together in a collection that will be valuable to several disciplines. The essays present numerous qualities of the rose as a symbol with broad cultural, social, and historical meanings: from astrology, to the history of Catholicism, to the new anti-Female Genital Mutilation global movement.

Join me and my friend, Antonia Williams-Gary, as we host a free book talk for our mutual friend Dr. Frankie Hutton.

  • Dr. Hutton is the author-editor of Rose Lore: Essays in Cultural History and Semiotics.
  • Dr. Hutton will be presenting her book Rose Lore: Essays in Cultural History and Semiotics for an exciting evening of self-transformation through Rose exploration.
  • Dr. Hutton is founder of the Rose Project and has been a regular lecturer on metaphysics. She is a former university professor, journalist and the author of The Early Black Press in America and other books. The mission of the Rose Project is to promote “Living the Rose.”
  • Dr. Hutton is a retired history professor and devotes her time to metaphysical studies and teaching. Find out more about Dr. Hutton at her website at www.roseproject.com

Please join me for this event. I know weeknights may be difficult, but this is the only day Dr. Hutton will be in Miami to do her presentation. Parking options include $3 Valet at Bay Park Towers building, free and metered street parking. Free beverages, wine and light snacks will be served. Below is an editorial review:
This study of the prevalence and symbolism of the rose in varied cultures, literary traditions, religions, philosophies . . . compels the reader to reflect upon the far-reaching influence and extensive significance of a familiar item that most of us have casually enjoyed without any idea of the degree to which it has affected—indeed permeated—our thoughts, health, beliefs, practices, icons . . . . This stimulating book is a reinforcement of the beauty and magnificence of a universe where even the simplest of creations speaks to us and influences our lives and thinking in innumerable ways. (Daryl Cumber Dance, University of Richmond).

    Thanks very much.
